The owners of this large rural property had been living in the 70’s-built, 4 bedroom, single level family home for many years. The property desperately needed an upgrade and a re-working of the floorplan to make the living areas more usable, and to link the outdoor spaces to the rest of the home. Walls were removed to make a spacious open-plan living/dining/kitchen area which now connects to the expansive new rear deck and pool, making the home an entertainer’s delight. The kitchen and laundry were completely replaced and the former rear living room became the family TV room. Custom joinery was designed for the TV and open shelving above in the main living area, and the awkward space under the window was utilised for a window-seat with storage beneath. The owners’ colourful mementos from their overseas travels to Africa and other locales were incorporated into the final design, showcasing their love of colour and pattern.
